Because I'm a shameless Manjoume fangirl.
This is where I feature a character from an anime and explain their name meanings. If you'd like to request a name meaning, let me know! ^_^
Name: Yukimura Seiichi
Anime: Prince of Tennis
Yukimura is a wonderful character that has lots of potential... His name is quite fitting to his character as well. "Yuki" is the kanji
for peace or happiness, and "mura" means village. I think this reflects the serenity of his nature very well.
The more interesting part about his name is the fact that it stems from the historic Japanese war hero, Sanada Yukimura. A
brilliant tactician and expert in the art of war, he almost led a successful campaign against the then-shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. He is
ultimately betrayed and meets a tragic end. I think it's interesting indeed, that the powerhouse tennis team Rikkaidai's Captain (Yukimura)
and Vice Captain (Sanada) are named after this true life hero.
"Sei" means soul or life force. This of course, speaks to Yukimura's passionate feelings toward tennis, and his incredible
will to overcome his suffering to become greater than he is. Ichi is a common ending for a boy's name.

* Prince of Tennis 172 *
Prince of Tennis Ep 172: Goodbye Seigaku!
"Awwww~~~!!!" is the best I can say about this episode, which I thought was so sweet! Although there wasn't as much of Kaidoh as I expected (as in, no full blown match), there was plenty of great scenes with him...and we definitely see his sensitive / emotional side too, which I love! I don't know...it makes me sad how Ryoma's going away to bigger things... But it's exciting too. Can't wait for the next episodes!
As the story opens, Sakuno and Tomo-chan are talking about Ryoma's going away, and how they have to re-do his banner. Sakuno's kind of sad, and asks Tomoka if she's not sad either, since she seems so cheerful. "Well, it's not like we're never going to see him again! We have to be supportive and see him off with a smile!" she says. (Now I know Tomo-chan can get annoying with her fan-girlisms sometimes, but I personally love how she's always thinking of the best for Ryoma... ^_^)
It's after practice, and after Ryoma leaves for home, Horio, Kachiro and gang walk up to Tezuka and tell him they're collecting messages from everyone for Ryoma on shikishi (it's like a nice quality cardboard sheet for autographs)...they wanted to do something for him, since he's leaving. They want the captain to sign first. Momo-chan says, "Aww, you guys are so nice," and Horio replies: "I'm so proud of him, for participating in the US Open at that age... It's not like this is our last goodbye or anything, but we wanted to do something for him..." Momo remarks how great it is that there's so much friendship loving going around, "Eh, Mamushi?" he says, toward Kaidoh, who's standing with his back to them behind a bush. Kaidoh's startled. He's been crying, and he swiftly wipes away his tears. (Awww~~~!!!! I love this guy!!) "We should get him something too, don't you think?" Momo asks. "Keh! Get him something yourself!" Kaidoh yells, "I have no interest in that kind of stuff." Momo knows that's not quite what Kaidoh's feeling...
Ryoma's packing for America, and he picks up Karupin to tell him goodbye. He's got a really sad expression on his face...
Next morning, Sakuno and Tomo-chan are thanking Mr. Kawamura, who's agreed to drive all their stuff to the airport and meet them there. Taka-san comes out with his gift for Ryoma, a big bottle of soy sauce. His dad rebukes him for bringing something so heavy, and Taka-san rushes back in to put it in a smaller container. Sakuno realizes that she hasn't gotten anything for Ryoma yet, and she runs off to buy something...
Ryoma's family is still getting him ready to leave, when somebody arrives at their home... Moments later, Nanjirou goes to fetch Ryoma, telling him some kid with a turban and a sour look in his eye is waiting for him out front. It's Kaidoh, of course, and he's come seeking a match against Ryoma. (Damn, I love the way Kaidoh dresses!!) "Didn't think you could leave Japan with a winning streak on me, did yoU?" he says. They play a few rounds, and Kaidoh says, "This is my going away present for you!" as he swings, sending a powerful Boomerang Snake his way. There's so much power behind it, it knocks Ryoma's racket away. Ryoma's pretty impressed by how powerful it is, and his hand is still ringing from the impact. "That's all for now," Kaidoh says. "We'll finish this when you get back....Give 'em, hell...Echizen" As Kaidoh walks off, Ryoma smiles and nods...
It's later in the day, and the whole gang has come out to see Ryoma off. "Give us your thoughts!" they ask him. "I'm hungry..." he replies. ^_^;;; The first years have put up a banner in the upper deck, and are making a ruckus cheering him on, much to Ryoma's embarrassment. Oishi, of course, goes up to quiet them down, for making a scene in the airport.
Ryuzaki says this reminds her of when she saw Nanjirou off, when he left for America.. (damn, he used to be hot! That pervert monk...)
Everyone has gifts for Ryoma, in addition to the messages from the team:
-- Momo: his favorite grip tape
-- Inui: all the notebooks filled with Ryoma's data since he's come to Seigaku. (Fuji grins evilly and says they could probably sell that to other schools for lots of money, and Kaidoh blushes hard..)
-- Fuji: a CD with relaxing music "You can meditate to it"
-- Oishi: a guardian amulet, or omamori (he's got one for everyone too)
-- Eiji: his treasured autograph by the Chocolates
-- Taka-san: vial of soy sauce. ("But can't you get soy sauce in NYC these days?" to which Taka-san replies that this isn't any ordinary soy sauce!)
Meanwhile, Sakuno's been having a tough time.. After finally getting a gift, she's hopped on the train, but it's delayed. When she arrives at last to the airport, it's already after Ryoma's flight was scheduled to leave. She slumps down in a disappointment...when Ryoma walks up sipping on Ponta, saying "You're too late." She looks up in shock... (Ryoma's flight was delayed). Ryoma then says, "Bad planning...Hair too long." The crowd around them tease the two of them, and Sakuno blushes...but she manages to give him his gift - a tennis ball on which she's written, "All Nationals, #1" "All Nationals?" he says. "I don't mean the Nationals Tournament...this means all nations...so #1 in the world! You can do it, Ryoma!" He thanks her, and takes the ball...then walks off, as his flight is announced. Everyone looks on, as flashbacks to their various experiences are shown...
Nanjirou proudly says, "Ryoma...you will live out the dream that I wasn't able to realize!" To which his wife says, "It's not that you couldn't fulfill your dream...it's that you decided not to - because you had an even bigger dream, right?" *flashback to a very young and adorable looking Ryoma clutching a racket* ^_^
Ryoma arrives in America, and is picked up by this American guy, and as he's being driven to his hotel, he realizes that Karupin has stowed away in his bag! "Karupin!! What are you doing here??"
Hehe....so cute! If you've read this far, just wanted to apologize if I sounded too goofy or fangirly in this post. I just loved it too much!
