Because I'm a shameless Manjoume fangirl.
This is where I feature a character from an anime and explain their name meanings. If you'd like to request a name meaning, let me know! ^_^
Name: Yukimura Seiichi
Anime: Prince of Tennis
Yukimura is a wonderful character that has lots of potential... His name is quite fitting to his character as well. "Yuki" is the kanji
for peace or happiness, and "mura" means village. I think this reflects the serenity of his nature very well.
The more interesting part about his name is the fact that it stems from the historic Japanese war hero, Sanada Yukimura. A
brilliant tactician and expert in the art of war, he almost led a successful campaign against the then-shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. He is
ultimately betrayed and meets a tragic end. I think it's interesting indeed, that the powerhouse tennis team Rikkaidai's Captain (Yukimura)
and Vice Captain (Sanada) are named after this true life hero.
"Sei" means soul or life force. This of course, speaks to Yukimura's passionate feelings toward tennis, and his incredible
will to overcome his suffering to become greater than he is. Ichi is a common ending for a boy's name.

* Bleach 21 *
Bleach Ep 21: Breaking in to the World of the Soul Reapers
Haha...sorry for missing last week, but I just didn't feel up to it. And this being a hobby, I figured if it begins to feel like a chore, I might as well skip it altogether. ^_~
Anyways, this week's epsiode was just ok. I get this feeling that I'm not going to like the Soul Society arc very much, if it's just going to be more of the same...as in, Ichigo & friends fighting other Soul Reapers. Unless the fights become more interesting. And unless Rukia's story become more central. I miss Kon, too...
So Ichigo and his friends are running through a dark corridor on their way to the Soul Society. They only have a limited amount of time to get there, or they will stuck in between the two worlds forever. The walls seem to be caving in on them, and Ishida's cape gets hooked in. Ichigo begins to draw his sword, but the cat warns him against using his spiritual powers here - they will be taken in by the force around them. Chad rips off Ishida's cape and throws him over his shoulder and runs with him, as Ishida yells at him to let him down! Something sinister draws near, and almost catches up with them, but Orihime uses her shield to block it, and they manage to blast out of the entrance.
They land in a heap in what looks like an old Japanese city. Ishida takes out his replacement cloak, much to the shock of his friends...hehe...("He brought a spare??? ^_^;;;;) The cat (sorry, forgot his name) tells them they are in the Rukongai, the place where souls live when they first arrive in Soul Society. It surrounds the "Seireitei", the place where soul reapers live, and is the poorest area of Soul Society where most of the souls reside. But the friends wonder why it looks so abandoned...
Ichigo sees an area that looks quite different from the Rukongai, and he walks towards it, when all the sudden, a huge wall falls down in front of him, blocking his path. A large giant of a soul reaper appears before them. It turns out that this man is the gate keeper, and one must defeat him if they are to continue on their way. He has protected the gates successfully for over 300 years, and looks pretty formidable. He's a pretty weird guy who keeps spouting off of manners, and says that the newcomers must take him on one at a time. Ishida, Chad and Orihime have no choice but to stand back as Ichigo fights the guy. The soul reaper starts swinging around his giant axe, but Ichigo is able to block them with his Zanpakutou. He eventually takes out a second axe, but Ichigo slices through them both, destroying them.
Ichigo explains that he was able to take back his soul reaper powers in only 5 days, so he had spent the extra 5 days fighting Urahara. Not that the guy taught him anything about fighting. But Chad thinks to himself later, that in those 5 days, Ichigo was able to obtain the one thing he lacked...fighting experience. With that in hand, Chad believes that Ichigo has no limit to his powers...
So anyway, the soul reaper guy sees that his axes have been broken, and breaks down in tears. Ichigo - all weirded out - comforts the guy. He says Ichigo must be a nice guy, etc. and decides to let him pass. He lets the other pass too, since their "boss" defeated him. Ishida freaks out, yelling "Kurosaki!! Since when have you become our boss??"
Soul reaper dude says "So your name is Kurosaki?"
"Ichigo? That's cute." Hehehe...
He raises the massive gates for them, but stops speechless... Ichigo walks past him and asks whether everything is ok....it seems the gate keeper's attention was drawn toward a single figure, who has made his way toward the group. "Captain of the Third Division...Ichimaru Gin!!"
To be continued....
