Because I'm a shameless Manjoume fangirl.
This is where I feature a character from an anime and explain their name meanings. If you'd like to request a name meaning, let me know! ^_^
Name: Yukimura Seiichi
Anime: Prince of Tennis
Yukimura is a wonderful character that has lots of potential... His name is quite fitting to his character as well. "Yuki" is the kanji
for peace or happiness, and "mura" means village. I think this reflects the serenity of his nature very well.
The more interesting part about his name is the fact that it stems from the historic Japanese war hero, Sanada Yukimura. A
brilliant tactician and expert in the art of war, he almost led a successful campaign against the then-shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. He is
ultimately betrayed and meets a tragic end. I think it's interesting indeed, that the powerhouse tennis team Rikkaidai's Captain (Yukimura)
and Vice Captain (Sanada) are named after this true life hero.
"Sei" means soul or life force. This of course, speaks to Yukimura's passionate feelings toward tennis, and his incredible
will to overcome his suffering to become greater than he is. Ichi is a common ending for a boy's name.

Prince of Tennis Ep 163: Kaidoh's Unknown World
Special thanks to David for getting me this episode!
Lol...this has got to be the goofiest episode ever! But in a good way, because I'm a huge fan of Kaidoh. I can't tell you how adorable I find Kaidoh. I think he's one of the most emotional and sensitive characters in the story, so I always love it when they do a feature episode on him. (Ah...recollections of that great episode where he's forced to impersonate Ryoma. Hey, only a guy with a big heart can stand that much humiliation just so he wouldn't break a little kid's heart. I love this guy!) So in this episode, he saves Ryoma from the Momoshiro Special, only to get zonked in the head instead...and ends up temporarily losing his memory.
I couldn't stop laughing when Mizuki tried to take advantage of this situation...hehe. And one of my other fave characters Yuuta makes a rare appearance (and even an even more rare tennis playing appearance - yay!!). I was actually caught slightly off guard by the way Yuuta addressed Kaidoh without the honorific -san or -kun, and he called him 'omae', a term used for familiars or subordinates. But then I remembered that Yuuta's a second year, same as Kaidoh. I tend to forget that about him, because most of his lines involve speaking to senpais, and he always speaks properly to them.
Anyways, quirky, but very fun episode!
Episode opens with Kaidoh and Ryoma doing some jogging... Ryoma says, "You're tough as usual, Kaidoh senpai! Everyone's here today, but you're not gonna swing a racket? I'm feeling really good today..." But Kaidoh doesn't respond, so Ryoma looks disappointed and proceeds to run ahead of him...
The two of them reach the school courts, and Ryoma's out of breath... "Hydrate yourself before you warm up," Kaidoh advises him, as he enters the court area. Kaidoh doesn't look out of breath at all..heh. Ryoma walks up to Kaidoh and offers him a beverage (it looks like....milk??) I don't know why I thought this scene was just adorable. ^_^
In the courts, Momo and Eiji are playing a practice match. Momo jumps up for his super special dunk smash...and inadvertently hits it on the edge of his racket, sending the ball flying in Ryoma's direction. Kaidoh pushes Ryoma out of the way, and gets hit in the head instead...
His teamates take him to the infirmary, and he seems to be doing fine. Eiji's relieved that "Kaoru-chan" is ok...but then Kaidoh turns to Inui and asks him if he's the teacher in charge of their club. Momo tells him he should quit joking around, but Oishi points out the obvious: Kaidoh does not joke around. The kids begin to freak out, and Oishi and Eiji do this little chibi routine (really wild...) and say this is a job for Inui! As the brain of Seigaku, it's up to him to figure out what's wrong with Kaidoh. But Inui has gone blank...apparently extremely shocked by the fact that Kaidoh didn't recognize him... Awww.....
Meanwhile, Fuji and Taka-san have gone to visit Ryuzaki at the hospital and are on their way back...but they keep running into bad omens, like a row of black cats crossing their path. Fuji gets worried and tries calling his brother, but it's not connecting. At the same time, Yuuta's shoe string breaks... Mizuki says it's bad luck. "Aniki?" Yuuta remarks... (I'm not really sure what this sequence is supposed to mean...? I was kinda confused by what Fuji's whole role in this story was).
Back at the club room, they've figured out that Kaidoh's memory might come back naturally by some kind of trigger... Kaidoh looks down at the racket in his hand, and thinks..."Who are these guys??" They find a tape of Kaidoh's doubles match against St. Rudolph and play it for him, to jog his memory. He doesn't remember anything. But he reacts oddly when he sees Karupin on the video. "Did you remember something? Hey!" Momo says, grabbing his shoulder. Kaidoh then inexplicably turns and punches Momo across the face, and starts fighting him...almost like a cat. He's freaking out! Only Inui can tame the crazed Kaidoh, and he manges to calm him down...he even pets him on the head. "That's a good boy. And for good boys, I have this," he says, whipping out his Inui juice. Kaidoh freaks out even more...
They take Kaidoh out walking by the river where he practiced perfecting his swing for the Boomerang. He still doesn't remember anything, and gets frustrated. Eiji then says that maybe they should hit him in the head with a ball again, and his memories might come back! "That's logical," Inui says, but Kaidoh isn't happy with that prospect at all. (Kaidoh looks so cute when he's freaking out here! "Eeeeeehh???") He starts to run off, and Inui grabs him by the arm. "Kaidoh...why don't you entrust your future...to me?" Kaidoh looks at him and flatly refuses. He takes off running...Inui goes blank with shock, again.
Over in the street tennis courts, Mizuki has dragged Yuuta along on his scouting expedition. They bump into Kaidoh, and Mizuki realizes that it's his chance to nab this player for his team, while his memory is gone. He lies to Kaidoh and tells him he actually used to play for St. Rudolph's team, and that he was on loan to Seigaku. He tries to get him to sign an agreement to return to St. Rudolph when Momo intercedes and tries to stop him. "Don't be deceived!" he yells. Ryoma says they should settle this with tennis, and Mizuki agrees: "However, if you lose, we're going to take Kaidoh-kun. Nfu."
So the match begins. It's a doubles match between Kaidoh / Yuuta (yay!) and Ryoma / Momo. Kaidoh's all up on Yuuta's corner, and Yuuta has to tell him to move back to his side of the court! But as they begin to play, his body remembers what it's supposed to do, and things slowly come back to him... Yuuta misses a ball, and he yells at him to get it together! Yuuta looks at him, a little surprised, and Kaidoh immediately apologizes. "Oh...that's ok," Yuuta replies, "That's more like you anyway." Kaidoh's a little surprised that such rough language is "usual" for him. ("What kind of guy was I, anway??")
The ball comes their direction, and Yuuta lunges for it, but Kaidoh yells at him to get out of the way...and he hits it back, knocking poor Yuuta off his feet in the process.. ^_^;;; But when Momo returns the ball, it smacks Kaidoh in the forehead. Kaidoh, now pretty pissed, swings back and hits the ball into Momo's head, knocking HIM down too.
But the impact from the second ball has brought Kaidoh back to his usual self, much to the relief of everyone. Unfortunately, it is now Momo who has lost his memory...
